Oh my goodness, what an event! More than 260 players including 80 women and a full draw of 32 for women’s C attended this year’s action packed Harrow Reggae Cup! The following T&D players placed or were finalists:
Women’s A: Vanessa Steinwall, Mayfair Parkway, was the Consolation finalist and Lynn Oliphant edged out Dunfield teammate Jessica Gaffic for a spot in the Women’s A Bronze finals.
Women’s B: Champion Beverly Goldthorpe, Dunfield (shown above left), won the B main draw with Anna Tomei from Executive Squash and Fitness placing 4th. Christine Horner, One Health, won the Consolation final against Alison LeBer from Pickering Squash Club and Monica Tonna, Executive Squash & Fitness, won the Women’s B Bronze.
Women’s C: Ariel McCuaig from Executive Squash & Fitness placed 3rd in Women’s C and Morgan Sanchez, One Health, won the Consolation. Lynsey Yates and Kerime Arisan, both from Dunfield, faced off in the Women’s C Bronze which went to Kerime.
Women’s D: Balmy Beach Club players Melanie Barwick and Karen Budden placed second in the main draw and won the Consolation, respectively.
Those who attended had a blast and the organizers were thrilled to see such strong representation from women players. We hope this encourages everyone to get out there and play a few more events!
If you decide to attend the Reggae for the first time next year, note that squash is played around the clock with some matches starting at 7:40 am and play ending late (up to 12:30 am!) on Saturday. Go with the flow and plan for some downtime to conserve your energy so that you can bring your best effort to the court.
