T&D Squash Women Trained in Singles and Doubles
On November 3, 29 women signed up for the first ever singles and doubles training camp in Toronto & District. Hosted at Toronto’s newest club, TEN X TORONTO, this sold out event featured squash training in a first rate venue with former world #1 Amr Shabana and head coach Robert Nigro and a fun and energetic fitness class with Fitness Director, Jennifer Kennedy.
Amr’s static and movement drills provided a strong foundation for building the consistency required to hit clean, straight length. All participants had the opportunity to try doubles and appreciate why so many women are gravitating towards this fun and strategic sport. It’s addictive!
We also learned how Amr and Robert mentally prepare for competition. They suggested that 80% of success in squash hinges on mental preparation and focus and that we can improve our games significantly without adjusting a single aspect of technique by building a stronger mental game. An encouraging message for many of us!
The day ended with a trip to the 28th floor sky bar to enjoy snacks and drinks while watching the sunset over beautiful views of our city skyline.
We are collecting feedback from participants about what worked and what needs to be improved and are thrilled that 100% of the participants would like to participate in more TDWSA events. We will make sure that this response is incorporated in our planning efforts so that we continue to improve the value of our events.
