Lots of Action on the Courts During Holiday Hit!
More than 70 T&D players from across all TDWSA divisions showed what community is all about. On December 13th, they gathered to celebrate the season at Toronto's bustling Mayfair Lakeshore club. They played some squash, got acquainted with doubles squash, mixed and mingled in the club's bistro, and raised $500 for The Daily Bread Foodbank!
Many thanks to Lisa Pratt and Jen Curry for their organizing efforts and to Mayfair Lakeshore for donating the court time.
Introduction to Urban Squash Toronto
Anita Nador introduced the Holiday Hitters to Urban Squash Toronto. UST is a charitable organization that combines an intensive after-school, 7 days-a-week, yearlong education program with concentrated athletics (principally squash). They support under served youth in the Jane-Finch community to reach their full academic, athletic and personal potential.
The program includes a professional academic program, mentoring, community service, leadership and athletics. Students start at UST in Grade 6 and remain in the program throughout high-school.
There are lots of opportunities for TDWSA to support UST. Stay tuned for more and visit their website to learn more.
